Community Outreach

St. John's supports and participates with a number of local, national and international charitable organizations. Our Community Outreach committee works tirelessly to provide support to those who are less fortuante.  We consider this to be one of St. John's primary missions.

DRIVE THRU DINNER

St. John's provides a monthly Drive Thru Dinner for free to the community.  The third Thursday of each month from 5-7 p.m. St. John's provides a free home made dinner to anyone who wants one.  Dinners are packaged to go and can be eaten at home or in our parish hall.

WARMING SHELTER

St. John's partners with Bedford Presbyterain Church to provide a Warming Shelter in the winter months for those in need. In the summer, the shelter becomes "Shower and Suds"' and is open intemittently for meals, showers, and laundry for those experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity.  Hours for the Warming Shelter and Shower and Suds vary.  The shelter is located at 112 Center Street, Bedford VA 24523. The Shepherds Table

The Shepherds Table is a local organization that provides a free hot meal every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.  St. John's volunteers prepare and serve meals at the Shepherds table on the first Friday of every month.
