About our Town

St. John's is located in the heart of the town of Bedford, at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Central Virginia.  The Parish of St. John's has been active in the area since 1847.  The current church, with its gothic design and beautiful stained glass windows, was erected in 1924.  The warm wood interior and striking architecture are welcome features to those who come and worship here.
Bedford is a home to several historic landmarks, including the National D-Day Memorial, The Elks National Home, and the Avenel Plantation. There are a wide range of attractions nearby for visitors, including Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest, Smith Mountain Lake, the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Peaks of Otter, and the Sedalia Center for the Arts.
